What is WAY?

  • WAY is an elected group of 22 young people from across Wiltshire who represent young people's views and make sure young people are listened to.
  • They are funded and assisted by Wiltshire County Council, but it is otherwise independent from any governmental body.
  • They have recently produced an Agenda for Action and are now in the stage of acting upon the points chosen as focus areas.

What is it like to be a member?

As members of WAY and UKYP I think we can safely say that we've made a real impact on decision makers both locally and nationally during the last couple of years. Through the Agenda for Action, face to face meetings and some fantastic residentials, we've not only had a great time but we've also attacked some of the stereotypical images of young people. From local facilities and bus fares to the perception of teenagers and cycle paths, we've tackled issues relating to all young people throughout Wiltshire and the South west. It's been a really valuable experience, and one which we've really enjoyed being a part of.
